Making knowledge work for inclusive development

INCLUDE is an independent think and do tank working to make knowledge count for inclusive development in Africa.

We combine rigorous research with knowledge brokering to bridge the gap between evidence and action. Our goal is simple: to produce knowledge, share it widely, and help others use it to build more inclusive policies and programmes.

Since 2012, INCLUDE has been funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and has served as a trusted link between research, policy, and practice, helping decision-makers turn insights into progress.

How we work

Through our three pillars Research, Knowledge Exchange, and Policy Dialogues we:

  • Produce knowledge grounded in evidence and lived experience.
  • Broker connections between researchers, policymakers, and practitioners.
  • Facilitate policy uptake that leads to more equitable and inclusive outcomes.

This integrated approach ensures that knowledge doesn’t stay on paper — it informs action and drives change.

Our people

INCLUDE is a platform of African and Dutch professionals: platform members, a steering group, and a secretariat. Our platform members, most of whom are African experts, are the driving force of INCLUDE. They bring diverse perspectives, deep expertise, and first-hand experience that guide our strategic direction and keep our work anchored in real-world challenges and opportunities.
